Introduction:

The department is well known in Pune University for its rank holders. As per ‘US Market Research Analyst’ survey, Production Engineering branch has bright future in new era. Highly qualified & senior faculties are involved in R & D of conventional/ Non-conventional machining & industrial engineering areas.

Department has following laboratories-

  3. Metal Cutting & Tool Design Lab
  4. Metallurgy Lab
  5. Material forming lab
  6. Advanced Machine Shop
  7. Project Lab.
  8. CAD/ CAM Lab.
  9. Welding & foundry Lab.
  10. Digital CAM lab.

The CAD/ CAM Lab is equipped with latest softwares like Unigraphics, MasterCAM, Pro-E, CatiaV5, Ansys, Solid Edge, Witness. The department runs certificate courses on these software for the students. Department regularly organizes National level workshop/ seminars, paper presentations etc. Students participate in various extra & co-curricular activities through Production Engineering Students’ Association (PESA).
Department started AeSI Students chapter in association with Aeronautical Society of India, Nasik Branch.




What is Production Engineering?
Production engineering is a combination of manufacturing engineering & management science. A Production engineer has a wide knowledge of engineering practices and is aware of the management challenges related to production. It is a specialized branch of mechanical engineering and is equivalent to it.

Advanced Machine Shop
Today’s era is of computerization & automation in the industries. For the students to be compatible in this scenario in industries the college has added a new Smarturn CNC Machine worth RS 17.32 lakhs from Lakshmi Machine Works Limited, Coimbatore in our workshop. In CNC machine the operations on the job are carried out completely with the help of computer programmer & human assistance is required only for job loading & unloading.

CNC has following features:

  1. Manufacturing of high quality parts
  2. High precision machining
  3. Reduced setup time
  4. Excellent part to part repeat accuracies.

Department provide training to the students on CNC Machine & also conduct courses in CNC programming.

With rigorous efforts of Prof. Dr. B. R. Borkar and Prof. V. B. Shinde, thedepartment received grant of 24 Lakhs under AICTE MODROBS scheme. The department has purchased aCo-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) worth .15 Lakhs (Make: Electronica) and Industrial Robotic Arm (Make: ABB, Model: 1410), worth 13 lakhs.



  1. Department setup eYantra lab initiatives (eLSI) sponsored by IIT Mumbai inaugurated on 3.5.2018.
  2. Team Vegam!!! finished at 7th position in EcoKart ..an electric car competition held at Greater Noida New Delhi EcoKart got appreciated for its design, speed, acceleration and looks competing amongst 25 teams from all over the country and third team from Maharashtra. 15 students of T E production participated in this competition during 24th Mar to 27th Mar 2018.
