A Legacy of Education, Empowerment and Excellence
The story of Amrutvahini College of Engineering (AVCOE), Sangamner , is rooted in the vision of providing quality education and creating opportunities for students from rural communities. The journey began with the visionary leadership of Hon. Late Shri. Bhausaheb Santuji Thorat , a freedom fighter, philanthropist and pioneer of the cooperative movement.
In 1978, Shri. Bhausaheb Thorat founded the Amrutvahini Sheti & Shikshan Vikas Sanstha at Sangamner with a noble vision—to bring education and training opportunities closer to the rural population and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region. His belief was that education could transform lives, empower communities and create a stronger society.
With this vision as its foundation, Amrutvahini College of Engineering was established in 1983 to provide higher technical education to students from rural areas. What began as an initiative to make professional education accessible has grown into a vibrant centre of engineering education, innovation, research and professional development.
Over the years, AVCOE has continuously evolved with changing technologies and the needs of industry and society. The institution has expanded its academic programmes, infrastructure, research activities and industry interactions while remaining committed to its core values of quality education, innovation, ethics and social responsibility .
Today, AVCOE stands as an autonomous institution, approved by AICTE and permanently affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. The institute has received NBA accreditation four times, an A+ Grade from NAAC, and is certified under ISO 21001:2018 – Educational Organization Management Systems . It has also been recognised with the Best College Award by Savitribai Phule Pune University for the academic year 2020–21 .
Spread across a 15.6-acre green campus, AVCOE today offers programmes across diverse areas of engineering, technology, management and emerging disciplines. Its academic ecosystem includes departments such as Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication, Automation & Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science and other interdisciplinary areas.
The journey of AVCOE is also reflected in the achievements of its alumni. Since its establishment, thousands of students have completed their engineering and management education under the Amrutvahini banner and are contributing to organisations and communities across India and around the world.
From its humble beginnings in rural Maharashtra to its growing presence in modern engineering education, AVCOE continues to carry forward the vision of its founder—using education as a powerful instrument for empowerment, progress and nation-building.
